Rule, Britannia!

The Welsh Assembly Government wants Twitter users to get St David’s Day into the trending topics by sending their holiday messages with the hashtag #stdavidsday.

This is thought to be part of a move to get the March 1st holiday, declared a national holiday in Wales.

Now, St Patrick’s Day is a national day in Ireland and St Andrew’s Day has long been a bank holiday in Scotland but what do the English do on St George’s Day?

Well the answer is, fairly little.

It isn’t recognised as a bank holiday and besides the hanging of a few St George’s flags outside some pubs, there isn’t really anyone celebrating.

The Student Reporter wants to know if you think St George’s Day should be given national holiday status. Tweet us @EHsreporter
