So you’ve already read about saving money when booking your hotel room and cheaper alternatives to traditional hotels.
We now move on to: what can you take from hotel rooms?
Soap, shampoo, and shower gel
Most hotels who have a daily maid service and even those that don’t will often provide complimentary basic toiletries for their guests. If you put the bottles in your suitcase each day before leaving they will give you more.
They generally have at least two toilet rolls in the hotel room bathroom. Depending on how desperate you are for toilet roll, you may like to store it up in your suitcase but you might find it takes up too much room in your suitcase. My advice is to take the toilet rolls on the last day of your holiday. That way you won’t waste room for souvenirs.
If you are in a hotel room with a TV and remote, then you might be able to take the back off the remote and take the batteries. Be warned though that this isn’t something hotels expect to replace every day so they’re unlikely to have an unlimited supply ready and waiting for you. I would take them on the last day.
These aren’t available for free in all hotels; sometimes you have to ask behind the desk but the last time I visited the States, I stayed in a hotel that did offer these items for free.
